Every change to the statutes, court forms, or county fees used by our Texas Small Estate Affidavit, affidavit of heirship, and transfer on death deed tools is recorded here with its date and source.

How updates work
We re-check every source cited on the Texas tool and guide pages at least every 90 days and after each regular session of the Texas Legislature.
When a source changes, we update the tool rules and guide pages, change their "last verified" date, and add an entry below.
Each Texas page shows its review status. None has been reviewed by a licensed Texas attorney yet; when one is, the reviewer and date will be listed on that page and recorded here.
Re-checked Texas Estates Code Chapters 114, 203, and 205, the Travis County SEA checklist (updated October 1, 2024), the Bexar County SEA checklist (dated January 18, 2019), and the Travis and Harris county clerk probate and recording fee pages.
Small Estate Affidavit check: a will and non-homestead real property are now stop conditions, matching §205.001, §205.008(b), and the Travis and Bexar court checklists; they were previously marked "review". Added questions for solvency (assets exceed debts) and whether every heir can be found and will sign (§205.002).
County data: added verified $360 SEA filing fees for Travis and Harris counties and certified-copy costs; Bexar's $232 fee is shown with its 2019 date. Tarrant County was removed because we could not verify its SEA requirements.
Transfer on death deed: replaced the multi-state concept page with a Texas check based on Chapter 114, linking the TexasLawHelp, eFileTexas, and Texas Access to Justice Commission forms.
Recording fees: added verified Travis and Harris real-property recording fees ($25 first page, $4 each additional page) for heirship affidavits and transfer on death deeds.
